A man who said he sacrificed his own career to become a “stay-at-home” husband to allow his wife to concentrate on her career as an investment banker has succeeded in his application to have his divorce heard in England, reports the Telegraph.
Weng Choy began divorce proceedings against his wife, Lena Tan, in January 2012. The couple were wealthy, with marital assets estimated to be worth around £11 million, including houses in both Hong Kong and Malaysia and an apartment in Kensington.
Lena Tan had argued that he had no right to have the divorce heard in England, however the Court of Appeal has now ruled that because Weng Choy had been “habitually resident” in England for at least a year before bringing divorce proceedings, he was eligible to have the divorce heard in the English courts.
